In assignment 2, we are supposed to create pictograms that represent an object or an action. I have decided to do a pictogram that has something to do with food. Below is the abstraction process.
This is a picture of me eating at business canteen. I must say that the western food is nice! Anyway, this is the basis of my abstraction.
From above, I turned myself into a stick man figure with a happy expression. The simplification from photo to stick man is obvious, as for the happy face, I thought that everyone should be happy when they have something to eat.
To achieve the next abstraction, I decided to remove the plate, as I thought that the being there does not really serve any purpose.
In this abstraction, I removed the table. Like the plate, it does not play a main role in telling the audience that the person is eating.
Here, I shifted the focus towards the mouth, cutting off part of the upper body.
The final step of my abstraction was actually to entirely remove the body.
Personally, I prefer abstraction number 4. It shows part of the body, giving a move complete feeling, yet it is not showing too much. Hence, I used it together with a green arrow to point out the direction where food can be found for my final prototype. Green, as to my knowledge, is to guide people to a place, or to give direction.

This is the path up to the Arts Canteen from SOC. I placed the sign on the tree, but I guess it is not very visible...
Here, I imported the sign for AS6 and used it for the canteen. Still it is quite small as I tried to fit to this picture that I have.
I'll try to find more locations where I can place the final prototype sometime after the recess week.
